FAQs

What would be the advantages of having Ray McKee as my congressional representative?

Ray is a candidate who is committed to representing the people and changing the status quo of politics. Having never run for an office before, he is running for the opportunity to make a “real” change in Congress. He isn’t a politician; he is just a passionate citizen who wants the people to TAKE AMERICA BACK!

Ray is determined to change the way we are taxed as Americans. He will devote much of his term to push for tax reform that offers fair taxation for everyone.

How would the FairTax affect me?

According to www.fairtax.org, the FairTax:

  • Enables workers to keep their entire paycheck
  • Enables retirees to keep their entire pension
  • Refunds the tax on purchases of basic necessities in advance
  • Allows American products to compete fairly
  • Brings transparency and accountability to tax policy
  • Ensures Social Security and Medicare funding
  • Closes all loopholes and brings fairness to taxation
  • Abolishes the IRS

The Issues

Ray's solutions to some of the problems facing the nation today:

Q. I heard you say you wanted to get a term limit amendment to the U. S. Constitution.  How will you get Congress to vote for that?

A. There is a misconception that Constitutional Amendments must begin in Congress.  That is not the case.  The only thing necessary is to get the Amendment ratified by 38 of the United States.  As soon as I get elected, I am going to immediately begin drafting an amendment to take to each of the 50 states for comments.  It is my hope to have all 50 states to agree to the wording of the amendment in my first year.  As soon as everyone can agree on the wording, the amendment would then go through each state’s procedure for ratification.  (3/15/08)

Q.  What is your position on the illegal immigration problem?

A.  As most people know by now, my platform is to go to Congress to solve problems.  The first thing you have to do is define the problem.  If you can’t write the problem down, you certainly can’t solve it.  My statement of the illegal immigration problem is as follows:

We have 12-15 million illegal immigrants in the country and the number is growing.

The next step is to write down the possible solutions.  I see two solutions to this problem:

1.  The first appears to be the route the country is going at the moment, and that is to build a border fence or put guards on the border.  But this only solves the second part of the problem.  If we assume a perfect fence that no one can get past, then I only see three possibilities for solving the complete problem:

    a.  Put the 12-15 million already here in prison.  This means they all get free food, clothing, shelter, and health care.  No one seems to care for this alternative, including me.

     b. Grant amnesty to the 12-15 million already here.  I would not support this option.

      c.  Deport the 12-15 million already here.  This seems to be a popular choice, but maybe not very practical.  However, if it came down to one of these three options, I would support this one.

2. The solution I like is “to make it more painful for the illegal immigrant to be here than where he or she came from.”  The third facet to solving a problem is to actually implement the chosen solution.  Oklahoma and Arizona seem to have passed laws that do a good job of implementing this solution.  I see no reason that their laws would not work for the entire country although I would want to explore other implementations.  (3/17/08)

Q. Will you support the war on terror?

A. To me, there is only one acceptable result in the war on terror, and that is a swift and decisive victory.  I was not a big fan of “the surge”, because I did not believe it was a strong enough action.  I will support the United States going and getting the terrorists wherever they are located.  (3/17/08)

Q.  How will you deal with the energy problem?

A. This is one problem that does not have an immediate solution.  However, I believe a big role of the Federal Government is scientific research.  It may take an effort like sending a man to the moon to solve the problem of our dependence on fossil fuels.  There are things that we can do immediately to ease the problem.  For instance, I would like to see replacement of commuter flights between large cities with high speed magnetic levitation trains.  This would have the added effect of easing our crowded airways.  I also believe that our current high gasoline prices are due to the weak dollar.  Passage of the FairTax Bill will strengthen our dollar and bring prices down.  (3/17/08)

Q.  I have seen your signs and they all say Fair Tax.  Are you a one issue candidate?

A. Absolutely not.  Actually, issues are something that people just talk about every two years, and they hardly ever change from election cycle to election cycle.  The most that will have happened in any two year period is that Congress has placed a band-aid on the problem.  I want to solve problems, and there are a ton of them that need solving.  Problems that I am interested in and that I believe can be solved, or at least a good start made toward a solution, include (in addition to saving our economy with the FairTax):  placing term limits on Congress, the war on terror, the dependence on fossil fuels, illegal immigration, national debt, and many others.  I also have ideas on foreign policy, trade, foreign aid, world peace, etc., that I would like an opportunity to discuss with our next President.  (3/17/08)
